Overview
Atom now supports Video Evidence with Audio. This feature allows engineers to capture real-world context that static photos cannot provide, such as unusual equipment noise, environmental conditions, or complex physical setups.
Key Benefits:
Audio Recording: Capture sound to help diagnose noisy equipment.
Fewer Repeat Visits: Provide a complete picture to the back office instantly, reducing the need for clarification or return trips.
Faster Approvals: Help back-office teams assess situations accurately on the first review.
1. Guide for Engineers (Atom Users)
How to Capture Video
Instead of just taking a photo, you can now record or select video directly within the job record.
Open the Job: Navigate to the relevant job card in Atom.
Locate Video Section: Find the question labeled "Record Video".
Launch Camera: Tap the input field to open your device's native camera interface.
Record:
Ensure your microphone is not covered if capturing sound is important.
Duration Limit: You can record up to 3 minutes.
Review & Upload:
Once finished, the video will attach to the job record.
File Size: The maximum file size is 500MB.
Batching: You can upload multiple videos if necessary.
Best Practices
Network Conditions: The app handles compression to ensure uploads work even in varying network conditions. If you have limited connectivity, the app will manage the upload once connection is restored.
What to Record: Focus on dynamic issues (leaks, flickering lights) or sounds (humming, grinding) that a photo cannot capture.
Limitations
No Editing: You cannot trim, crop, or draw on videos inside Atom.
No Streaming: This is for recording evidence, not for live video calling.
2. Guide for Back Office (Pathway Users)
Viewing Evidence
Video evidence allows you to verify installation quality and diagnose issues without needing to call the engineer for clarification.
Access Job Record: Open the specific job in Pathway.
Locate Attachment: Look for the video attachment in the evidence section.
Playback: Click to play the video.
Audio: Ensure your computer audio is on to hear any recorded sound.
No External Tools: The video plays directly within Pathway; no need to download or use 3rd party players.
Managing Evidence
Deletion: If a video is irrelevant or uploaded in error, Pathway users with appropriate permissions can delete the file from the record.
