In the new Pathway V2 environment, office users benefit from live, multi-user editing. However, because the Atom App is designed to work offline, it follows a different set of "Data Ownership" rules. Understanding these prevents accidental data overwrites.
1. The "Master" Logic: Who Wins?
The system determines which data to keep based on the Project Status.
Phase 1: Pre-Site (Pathway is Master): While a job is "Scheduled" but not yet "Started" by the engineer, any changes made in the office (Pathway) will update the engineer's app upon their next refresh.
Phase 2: On-Site (Atom is Master): Once an engineer taps "Start" in Atom, the mobile app becomes the "Master" for technical fields (e.g., serial numbers, test results, site photos).
The Overwrite Risk: If an office admin changes a serial number in Pathway while the engineer is on-site, the engineer's final "Submit" from Atom will likely overwrite the office's change with the data captured in the field.
Phase 3: Post-Submission (Pathway is Master): Once the job is "Completed" and synced, the data is locked in Atom. Any further edits must be done in Pathway.
2. Working in "Pathway V2" vs. Atom
Pathway V2 introduces Real-Time Presence Indicators (you can see which colleagues are looking at a project).
Important: You cannot see if an engineer is currently editing the job in Atom.
Best Practice: Before making major changes to a job that is "In-Progress," check the Audit Log. If the engineer has "Started" the job within the last few hours, avoid editing technical fields until they have "Completed" the sync.
3. Resolving Sync Conflicts
If a conflict occurs (e.g., the office and the field both edit the same field), Jumptech generally follows the "Last Sync Wins" rule for individual fields.
| Scenario | Result |
|---|---|
| Office edits Field A; Engineer edits Field B | Both updates are saved successfully. |
| Office edits Field A; Engineer edits Field A | The Engineer's data will overwrite the Office's data when they hit "Complete." |
