What this widget does

The DNO widget is a dashboard report that shows the status of your Distribution Network Operator (DNO) applications at a glance. It pulls together every DNO application raised and breaks them down by status, by DNO operator, and over time, so you can track approval volumes, spot bottlenecks, and see how many applications are being auto-approved.

Before you start

The widget only shows data if you use the DNO application module in Pathway. If your projects don't raise DNO applications through Pathway, the charts will be empty.

You'll need access to the Dashboard area, reached from the left-hand menu.

Part 1 — Adding the widget to your dashboard

The DNO report lives inside a dashboard widget that you add yourself. You only need to do this once; after you save the dashboard, the widget stays put.

Step by step

From the left-hand menu, open Dashboard (Beta). If you have no widgets yet, you'll see the prompt “Start adding some widgets to your dashboard”.
Click the Add widget button in the bottom-right corner.
In the Select Widget box, select Reporting Dashboard. The next step lets you configure it.
Give the widget a Title; for example, type DNO. This is just the label shown at the top of the widget, so name it whatever helps you recognise it.
Open the Report Type dropdown and choose UK DNO Application Metrics.
Click Save. The widget is added to your dashboard and begins loading its data.
When you're happy with your dashboard layout, click Save Dashboard (bottom-right) so the widget is there next time you visit.

Tip

You can add more than one widget to the same dashboard, and you can drag the ≡ handle at the top-left of a widget to reorder it. Use the gear icon to reconfigure a widget or the bin icon to remove it.

Part 2 — Reading the DNO widget

Once loaded, the widget has two parts: a row of filters across the top that control everything below them, and a series of reports (charts and a table) underneath.

The filters

Filters sit in a row at the top of the widget. Change any of them and every chart and table below updates to match. The available filters are:

Filter	What it controls
Application Tenant	Limit results to a specific tenant (e.g. uk).
Project Type	Narrow to one type of project.
Date Range	The reporting window. Defaults to Previous 3 months.
Application Status	Filter by DNO application status, e.g. Approved.
Status Update	Filter by a particular status-update event.
DNO	Restrict to one or more DNO operators (ENWL, NGED, UKPN, SSEN, etc.).
Device Type	Filter by the device on the application.
Active Application?	Show only active applications, or include inactive ones.

Time Grouping

Time-based charts have their own Time Grouping control (top-right of the chart), set to Week by default. Switch it to group the data by day, week or month.

Report 1 — Number of Applications by Status Update Over Time

A stacked bar chart with one bar per time period (per week by default). Each bar is split by application status — for example, DNO Approved, Auto-Approved, Further Information Required, Failed, and Manually Rejected. The number above each bar is the total applications for that period. Use it to watch throughput and see whether failures or information requests are rising.

Report 2 — Number of Applications by Status Update by DNO

The same status breakdown, but one bar per DNO operator instead of per time period. This shows which networks you submit the most applications to and how approval outcomes differ between them. The legend on the right maps each colour to a status.

Report 3 — % of Auto-Approved Applications

Shows the proportion of applications approved automatically, without manual intervention. It can be viewed over time and by DNO. A key insight surfaced here:

Good to know

Applications where the device is manually entered, rather than selected from the dropdown list, are less likely to be auto-approved.

Encouraging installers to pick the device from the dropdown improves your auto-approval rate.

Report 4 — Project Detail: DNO Applications

A table listing individual DNO applications with their Application Tenant, a link to the Project ID, External Application ID, Date Submitted, whether it's an Active Application, and its status. Use the Download results option (top-right of the table) to export the list for reporting or offline analysis.

Remember

No data showing? The widget only populates if DNO applications are raised through the DNO application module in Pathway, and only within the selected Date Range and filters.
